2017 Poster & Video Contest Results
The Department of Water Supply (DWS) is pleased to announce the winners of its 8th Annual Water Conservation Poster Contest and of its 1st Annual Source Water Protection Video Contest. DWS received beautiful poster artwork from 770 students from kindergarten to 8th grade and several creative and inspiring videos from Maui County high school students. The panel of volunteer judges and DWS staff were impressed by the talent displayed by our youth through their drawings and videos.
Poster Contest Theme
The theme of this year's poster contest is By Water All Things Find Life
. Submitted artwork was judged based on three criteria; water conservation message, originality, and visual effectiveness (neatness and creativity). Winners will receive various prizes such as backpacks and water bottles. Winning entries and honorable mentions will be featured in the 2018 DWS Water Conservation Calendar, on the county website at www.mauiwater.org and will be on display on the 5th floor of the County Building for one year.
Video Contest Theme
The theme of this year's video contest is Keep Our Water Clean and Pure
. Submitted videos were judged based on the following criteria: originality of content and concept, quality of video and audio, how well the video addresses the theme of source water protection and water quality, and whether or not community organizations were featured in the video. Winners will receive electronic prizes. Winning entries will be displayed on the County of Maui Department of Water Supply website.
Award Ceremony
The award ceremony for both contests was held jointly on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at 2 p.m. on the 9th Floor of the County Building, Kalana O Maui.
