The County of Maui Department of Water Supply (DWS) offers an annual Poster & Video Contest open to currently enrolled Maui County students. 2020 was the 11th Annual Water Conservation Poster Contest, this year’s theme was “OUR WATER, OUR FUTURE, CONSERVE IT”. There were 726 entries by Maui County K-8 students that displayed thoughtful and creative posters. The 2020 winners will be featured in the 2021 DWS Water Conservation Calendar and on the website.
In addition, 2020 was the 4th Annual Source Protection Video Contest, this year’s theme was “OUR WATER, OUR FUTURE, PROTECT IT”. There were 13 high-quality entries submitted from our Maui County 9th to 12th grade students that are informative and highlights just how diverse and creative students can be. The winners of the Poster & Video contests may participate in a ceremony with the Mayor to receive their prizes, Certificates of Participation from the Director of Water Supply and Certificates of Recognition signed by the Mayor and the County Council.
Please check back later this year for updates to our rules, regulations, and deadlines for the 2021 Poster & Video Contests. DWS will continue to offer these contests to our bright Maui County students to foster awareness about the importance of water conservation, source protection and what we can all do to sustain our drinking water resources. We look forward to seeing students continue to participate and challenge themselves in our upcoming Poster & Video Contests to learn and teach our next generation about how important and indispensable water is to our lives.
Lastly, the DWS Poster & Video Contests would not be possible without student participation. This continues to be possible by the tireless efforts from all of our Maui County teachers and parents who selflessly donate their valuable time to see their students and children succeed in everything they do. Our sincerest MAHALO for supporting the Department of Water Supply’s efforts to conserve and protect our water resources... because “By Water All Things Find Life”.
